Tour of North Historic route by Surface 13 days /12 nights

Day 01: Arrive at Addis Ababa meet our representatives and transfer to hotel.Overnight: Jupiter international hotel (4*)

Day 02: Drive to Bahir Dar on the way you will visit Deber libanose Monastery which is about 107kms from Addis Ababa. Then, proceed along the rolling plateaus and farm lands of Gojjam to Bahirdar. Overnight: Kuriftu Lodge

Day 03: In the morning, set out for a boat trip on Lake Tana to see beautiful island monasteries and their valuable treasures which include biblical wall paintings, crowns of different Ethiopian Kings, ancient illuminated parchment books, superb crosses etc. In the afternoon drive to the magnificent Blue Nile Falls; it is about 400 meter wide with full flood (in June, July and August to mid September). Overnight: Kuriftu Lodge

Day 04: Drive to about 3-4 hours through Gorgora plane to Gondar. Then, tour of Gondar which includes the visit the Royal Enclosure with its magnificent castles dated from the 17th and 18th century (world heritage site), the bath of king Fasiledes, the remarkable church of Debrebrihan Selassie with its breathtaking 17th century wall and ceiling paintings. Overnight: Goha hotel

Day 05: Admiring the unique flora, fauna and the stunning scenery leave the Simien Mountains via one of the most scenic roads of Ethiopia called Limalimo and the spectacular Tekeze Gorge to Axum. En route, on your right side of the road, you will have chance to gaze over parts of the Simien Mountains. Overnight: Yeha hotel

Day 06: Full day visit of Axum (World Heritage Site) which includes the famous stele park with its huge monolithic obelisks, the ruined palace of the Queen of Sheba, ancient stone inscriptions, the ruined palace of king kaleb and his son, subterranean tombs of different Axumite kings, the church of St. Mary of Zion which is believed to house the Original Ark of the covenant etc. Overnight: Yeha hotel

Day 07: Drive to Mekelle, En En-route visits the built up monastery of Debre Damo which is allowed only for men and the ancient Temple of Yeha (5th. C.BC), then continue driving to Hawzen. Overnight: Gherelata Lodge

Day 08: Full day visit of Gheralta cluster churches including Mariam Korkur which is cross-shaped church. It is known by its decoration, carving (columns, arches and cupolas) and fine frescoes. The other is Abune Yemata - famous in its well preserved frescoes and challenging to climb. Then, you visit Dugum Selassie which has beautifully carved ceiling above the maqdas (sanctuary). Overnight: Gherelata lodge

Day 09: Then drive to Mekelle on the way visit rock Churches of Abreha Atsbeha; said to be built by Ezana and Saizan (two brothers kings of Ethiopia) about 10th century and Wukro cherkose church. Overnight: Axum Hotel

Day 10: After early breakfast leave from Axum to Lalibela passing through the stunning scenery of the North central Massif and the Tigrean plateau. Overnight: Mountain View hotel

Day 11: Visit the first and second group of King Lalibela's 12th.Century Rock hewn churches (World Heritage Site).Although all of these churches are carved out of huge blocks of rocks, each of them displays unique architectural features from the other. Overnight: Mountain View hotel

Day12: Drive to Kombolcha and many small towns of Wollo province including the historical town of Wuchale, where the controversial Treaty of Wuchale is signed between Emperor Menelik of Ethiopia and Italy which ultimately led to the famous battle of Adwa in 1896. En-route, depending on time availability, you visit Hayk Estephanos Monastery. Overnight: Sunny side hotel

Day 13: Drive back to Addis Ababa and have a city tour of Addis Ababa which includes the Ethnological museum in the former palace of King Hailesillassie, the National (Archaeological) Museum where, among other archaeological findings the oldest hominid fossil (Lucy) is exhibited; and Mercato the largest open-air market in East Africa. In the evening, you will be invited farewell dinner in one of the best traditional restaurants of the capital with a show of folkloric music and dances of the different Ethiopian people.
