It is located west of Butajera. The church was established between the 12th and the 14th centuries and it looks like the counterparts of lalibela. Of course the local people believe that king Lalibela visited the church during he came to mount Zequala in 12th century.
The church measures 19m long and 16m wide, and has 10 doors and 24 windows. The tunnel leads from the back of the church to a nearby watercourse. And the church was prior 16th century attacked by Ahmed Gragn. Finally, the church was discovered by the local people and reopened during the reign of MenelikII.
